MSP360 Backup Free Adds Client-Side Encryption and Expands Object Lock Support

MSP360, a provider of backup, remote access, and RMM software, announced the addition of client-side encryption and expanded Object Lock support in MSP360 Backup Free.MSP360 Backup Free is free cloud backup software for personal use on standalone, non-domain-joined computers.It provides file-level backup and image-based backup on Windows, and file-level backup on macOS and Linux, with backup data stored in compatible cloud or local storage  selected by the user. The update strengthens Backup Free’s security capabilities by adding client-side encryption and expanding its existing Object Lock support to protect a broader range of backup data.

Client-side encryption and Object Lock address different backup security risks. Encryption protects data confidentiality by encrypting backups before they leave the source machine, helping keep their contents unreadable if storage access is compromised. Object Lock supports immutability by restricting the deletion or overwriting of protected data during a defined retention period. Together, they provide layered protection vs. both data exposure and data loss.
