Panzura announced the appointment of Karthik Ramamurthy as Chief Executive Officer.
He succeeds Dan Waldschmidt who, as part of a planned transition, is stepping down after more than two years in the role.
Ramamurthy assumes the reins as CEO from his position as Panzura’s Chief Product Officer, where he has recently led product, engineering, and go-to-market strategy. His appointment reflects Panzura’s commitment to operating as a customer-first, product-first organization—one where platform innovation is driven by the real-world requirements of the organizations it serves.
“Karthik has the right clarity of vision on what it takes to drive market leadership in enterprise data management. Elevating him to CEO reflects our confidence in Panzura’s technology and our commitment to a product-centric growth strategy. He is the right leader to move the company and our customers forward,” said Guy Churchward, executive chairman, Panzura.
A seasoned technology executive, Ramamurthy brings extensive experience in scaling platforms and leading complex product and engineering organizations. Prior to Panzura, he held senior leadership roles at Veritas, EMC, NetApp and other leading companies. He has deep knowledge in storage, data management, artificial intelligence (AI), and cybersecurity.
“Unstructured data is now the backbone of AI and enterprise transformation. The next wave of innovation will be defined by how effectively organizations can operationalize that data. At Panzura, being customer-first and product-led means we are building directly against those needs. My priority is to accelerate our leadership in AI-ready data, scale through our partner and channel ecosystem, and help customers turn their data into a true strategic advantage,” said Karthik Ramamurthy, CEO, Panzura.
Panzura has started the year with significant momentum particularly among the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry and other project-based firms. The company expanded the Panzura CloudFS hybrid cloud file platform with enhanced data governance, data residency compliance, multi-protocol access, and AI-powered threat protection capabilities. The company has also advanced Panzura Symphony, a data orchestration layer that gives enterprises visibility and control over unstructured data in heterogenous environments at scale.
As AI adoption accelerates, file systems and data orchestration platforms will play an increasingly central role in IT architectures. Most recently, the launch of CloudFS 8.7 positions the platform as a foundation for agentic AI workflows. Panzura is building toward a future where enterprises can apply AI directly to their existing file data, retrieving project history, benchmarks, and institutional knowledge from a single governed platform.

Following the recent departure of CTO Sundar Kanthadai, Panzura has now replaced its CEO Dan Waldschmidt with its CPO, who joined the company in January. Could this signal a broader shift within the organization?
