Application Dependency Mapping for stronger resiliency planning
IBM Storage Defender now includes Application Dependency Mapping to help organizations create more accurate and reliable recovery plans. This capability allows administrators to define logical dependencies between applications that contain recovery groups across diverse workloads. By visualizing these dependencies, teams gain clearer insight into how application components interact with one another and how changes or outages may impact business services. This improved understanding enables a precise impact analysis and ensures that recovery plans restore applications in the correct order during a resiliency event, helping to reduce downtime and operational risk.

Enhanced and granular visualization of recovery groups
IBM Storage Defender now provides a more detailed and intuitive visualization experience for recovery groups and their underlying infrastructure. Users can drill down into objects such as volumes, hosts, datastores, VMs, and databases to better understand how storage and backup components are connected. Enhanced filtering capabilities reduce visual clutter and allow users to focus on what matters most. This granular visibility supports more informed decision making and improves confidence in resiliency planning and execution.

Data Protect Vault for SaaS, on premises, and object storage
IBM Storage Defender introduces Data Protect Vault, which adds an additional layer of resilience for backup data. The vault securely stores immutable backup copies either on premises or in the cloud, helping organizations protect data from cyber threats and accidental deletion. Data Protect Vault supports fast recovery to primary or alternate locations, enabling quicker restoration of critical services.

With version 2.1.0, Data Protect Vault also extends support to S3 compatible object storage. This includes platforms such as NetApp, Ceph, and Cloud Object Storage. This flexibility allows organizations to align vault storage with their existing infrastructure and cloud strategies while maintaining strong data protection.

An enhanced Get started experience
The Get started page in the IBM Storage Defender user interface has been enhanced to help users onboard more efficiently. A new dynamic carousel highlights curated resources such as IBM Redbooks, community forums, and upcoming events. This experience provides quick access to learning materials and peer insights, helping users stay informed and engaged with the broader resiliency ecosystem.

Improved support experience for trial users
IBM Storage Defender trial users now have access to a new Contact support email option directly from the user interface. This enhancement provides a direct channel for questions or issue reporting, helping users resolve challenges quickly and navigate the trial with confidence.
