Recap Huawei Connect Europe 2025

Confirming storage technologies direction and market presence

Almost 4,000 attendees globally for Huawei Connect Europe last week in Madrid, Spain. It was the opportunity for the Chinese giant to update European end-users and its channel force on all its ICT product line and insisted on the reality of AI developments, capabilities and value for the business. These partners and indirect channels are always very active but suffered from over distributed products. Having the opportunity to distribute, resell and integrate part of the Huawei product line makes sense and represents an distinct option. This is the mission of Shape 2.0, the updated partner program, to improve and increase partners’ skills and certifications, build new offerings and accelerate ecosystem integration. The goal for this program is clearly on the table with 50 gold partners, 1000 elite and 10,000 integrators globally in Europe. In terms of certified human resources, it is already translated in 1,700 engineers with 7,600 certifications delivered. The target is to pass 5,000 engineers by the end of 2026.

The conference confirms the growing active role of Huawei in ICT and especially in data management and storage with several innovations. The product team insisted obviously on the OceanStor product line and in particular the Dorado with its new architecture, the A Series dedicated to AI storage and associated workloads, the Pacific units as well and OceanProtect.

On the Dorado side, we learned that some deployments have been done in Europe with the last generation of the product, the new generation with the v7 design, leveraging a fully disaggregated architecture fueled by DPU connected to tons of NVMe devices. This decoupling model offers the beauty to scale independently access nodes, exposing various protocols and APIs such as NFS, SMB, S3 and even HDFS…, from storage layer, all connected via RoCE.

On the AI storage part, even if the company introduced recently the A600 model, Huawei chose to display its high-end iteration, the A800, already developing rich features set validated by official public benchmarks like MLPerf.

The Pacific Series also demonstrates its role in the portfolio and the last iteration with the 9926 shows 8PB in 2U with also a DPU integrated natively in the chassis. This capacity is reached with 32 x122TB NVMe SSDs and a conservative 2:1 reduction ratio. For our audience, Huawei also unveiled its Flash QLC based 245TB SSD a few weeks ago with an aggressive desire to make it GA in December, at least for its domestic market.
