Exascale Racks New Iteration
Confirming an industry direction
By Philippe Nicolas | October 21, 2025 at 2:02 pmWe published recently an article about the industry goal to build a exascale rack.
With the recent OCP Global Summit last week in San Jose, CA, we have the opportunity to touch the Xsight Labs sled full of 8 ScaleFlux 122TB SSD so 976TB in total. This configuration, listed by the Open Flash Platform initiative and promoted by Hammerspace, allows 5 sleds in 1U meaning 976TB x 5 = 4880TB. Globally in 40U it delivers 195PB approximately.
Among the 4 configurations displayed on the image below, it appears interesting to consider a comparison in 2U mode, easy for the Supermicro config, same for Huawei, XSight Labs and Novodisk.
In 2U, we have
- Supermicro + Solidigm => 3.9PB
- Huawei => 4.3PB
- XSight Labs + ScaleFlux => 4.8PB
- Novodisk => 11.75PB
And we have to consider soon the 245-250TB SSD that will push even more the limits. We’ll try to maintain this picture updated with various news from vendors.
