DDN and Yotta Power Sovereign AI for India with Multimillion Dollar EXAScaler Deployment
DDN is proud to partner with Yotta Data Services Private Limited to deliver the high-performance data foundation for India's sovereign AI initiative under the IndiaAI Mission
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on October 21, 2025 at 2:02 pmDDN, a global player in AI and data intelligence solutions, announced a landmark partnership with Yotta Data Services, India’s key provider of cloud and AI infrastructure, to deliver the high-performance foundation for India’s sovereign AI initiative under the IndiaAI Mission. As part of this strategic collaboration, Yotta has deployed a multimillion dollar installation of DDN EXAScaler AI400X3 systems to power 8,000 NVIDIA B200 GPUs within Yotta’s Petascale AI cloud infrastructure powering Shakti Cloud, their end-to-end AI services platform. This deployment establishes one of the largest sovereign AI platforms in Asia, designed to accelerate India’s innovation, strengthen compliance and security, and advance the nation’s vision of global AI leadership.
“Sovereign AI is not just a goal-it’s the foundation for nations to unleash the full power of AI while retaining control, security, and strategic independence,” said Alex Bouzari, CEO and co-founder, DDN. “Through our partnership with Yotta and the IndiaAI Mission, we are enabling a new era of AI innovation in India. With EXAScaler at the heart of this effort, DDN is delivering the speed, scale, and multi-tenant capability needed to power world-class sovereign AI, accelerate breakthrough discoveries, and transform the country into a global leader in next-gen AI.”
Driving India’s AI Growth with Performance and Sovereignty
Yotta’s deployment of DDN EXAScaler enables a secure, multi-tenant AI cloud that provides government, public sector, and regulated industries with advanced infrastructure for AI training, inference, and foundation models. Designed for the highest performance AI and HPC workloads, EXAScaler ensures:
- Unmatched scalability and throughput with parallel file system architecture delivering high bandwidth, high IO/s, and linear scaling.
- Secure multi-tenancy with QoS policies and data integrity features critical for regulated industries, including BFSI and healthcare.
- Proven DGX SuperPOD-class performance, with DDN as the first NVIDIA ecosystem partner featured in both SuperPOD and NCP reference architectures.
“This partnership reinforces our commitment to advancing India’s AI journey in alignment with the IndiaAI Mission,” said Sunil Gupta, Co-Founder, MD and CEO, Yotta. “By combining Yotta’s cloud & AI infrastructure expertise with DDN’s industry-leading AI data platform, we are enabling India’s government, enterprises, and research ecosystem to access world-class AI infrastructure and a cloud platform, in Shakti Cloud, that is fully sovereign, compliant, and built for scale.”
Accelerating Innovation Across Sectors
The DDN-Yotta collaboration is designed to make AI accessible across India’s economy and research landscape:
- Government and public sector: Sovereign LLMs, digital citizen services, and AI programs with strict data residency.
- Regulated industries: BFSI and healthcare organizations gain compliant, high-performance AI without data leaving India.
- Start-ups & researchers: Access to GPU-as-a-Service and advanced AI infrastructure without costly dedicated build-outs.
Strengthening India’s AI Supply Chain
In alignment with the Make in India initiative, Yotta’s facilities and workforce ensure local value creation, while DDN EXAScaler guarantees data residency within India’s borders. The deployment enhances procurement compliance, lowers total cost of ownership (TCO) with shared infrastructure, and builds resilience in the domestic AI supply chain.
