HPE and AWS extend the value of AWS Outposts with HPE Alletra Storage MP B10000

The integration of HPE Alletra Storage MP B10000 with AWS Outposts helps organizations build hybrid clouds with consistent, advanced data services and a unique ability to optimize storage performance

Hewlett Packard Enterprise Development LP and Amazon Web Services, Inc. have a long-standing partnership that brings together hybrid cloud solutions with innovative data management capabilities. Today, we bring those solutions another step forward with the integration of AWS Outposts with HPE Alletra Storage MP B10000.Our joint investments have resulted in a rapidly released set of innovations. In May 2024, we started a new era in our Amazon Web Services (AWS) partnership with the release of HPE Alletra Block Storage for AWS, a SDS offering to seamlessly manage block storage across hybrid cloud environments.

In May 2025, we expanded the solutions available through partnership to include HPE Alletra Storage MP B10000 availability for AWS Outposts. And this September, we are taking our collaboration to the next level by fully integrating HPE Alletra Storage MP B10000 with AWS Outposts. This means customers can attach data volumes backed by HPE Alletra Storage MP B10000 storage to Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instances on AWS Outposts right through the AWS Management Console. In addition, customers can boot EC2 instances on Outposts directly from HPE Alletra MP B10000 storage.

Deploying the HPE Alletra Storage MP B10000 brings several advantages to AWS Outposts users. First, on-premises deployments can use the same data services from HPE in an AWS Outposts solution as in AWS Regions. Additionally, on-premises deployments gain all the storage benefits, such as advanced built-in ransomware detection capabilities, of the HPE Alletra Storage MP B10000 platform. Most importantly, it becomes possible to deploy cloud-native applications on-premises in the same management environment as AWS Regions. This provides a new deployment option for workloads that have stringent requirements for data residency or latency, while maintaining the same operational tools as AWS Regions.

Through integration, HPE Alletra Block Storage for AWS Outposts becomes an ideal solution for several on-premises and hybrid cloud use cases. Key use cases include:

  • Development testing (DevTest): You can develop applications in any AWS environment, and then deploy them where the data locally resides, with AWS Outposts.
  • Compliance: When working with data that faces stringent compliance or residency requirements, you can use this AWS Outposts solution to store and process data locally and operate with the same familiar management tools as with HPE Alletra Block Storage for AWS.
  • High performance applications: You can use the flexible architecture of the HPE Alletra Storage MP B10000 to optimize performance and capacity, meeting the needs of the most latency-sensitive and data-intensive applications.
  • Cloud migration with on-premises dependencies: As you progress in your cloud migration journey, some applications need to stay on-premises due to latency-sensitive interdependencies with on-premises storage systems. This solution enables you to adopt a cloud operating model on-premises by migrating the applications to Outposts while maintaining the low-latency connectivity to data residing in HPE Alletra Block Storage.

HPE Alletra Storage MP B10000 is a hybrid by design. Our software-designed storage architecture offers consistency across on-premises and public cloud data services. As such, HPE Alletra Block Storage for AWS and HPE Alletra Storage MP B10000 for AWS Outposts offer unified storage management and HPE’s advanced data services features. A single cloud console on HPE GreenLake cloud can be used to deploy storage services on public or on-premises clouds. Enterprise-class data services add easy to manage, foundational features for compression, thin-provisioning, snapshots, and more.
