Cloud Repatriation and Cloud Migration with PoINT Data Replicator

In response to customer requests regarding cloud repatriation, Siegen-based software manufacturer PoINT has made significant improvements to PoINT Data Replicator. Through scaling, the software now enables major performance increases for S3-to-S3 migration projects.PoINT Software & Systems presents the new version 3.0 of PoINT Data Replicator. With this new release, PoINT Data Replicator offers scalability that is implemented by adding nodes – so-called Data Mover Nodes.

PoINT thus provides the answer to numerous inquiries related to cloud repatriation and cloud migration: An increasing number of companies are reevaluating their cloud strategy and seeking solutions to bring data and workflows back into their own infrastructure or migrate them to European cloud providers. This type of S3-to-S3 migration project requires a scalable software solution that reliably transfers large amounts of data from one cloud to another or back to a company’s own data center.

PoINT Data Replicator carries out S3-to-S3 replication processes. Therefore, the solution can be used for backup purposes, as well as for migrating data from an S3 source to an S3 target.PoINT Data Replicator’s Copy Services run on Data Mover Nodes; scaling is achieved by adding additional nodes. This also increases the performance of the replication process, enabling the efficient replication of large amounts of data.

In order to meet the individual requirements of customers, PoINT Data Replicator can now be licensed in a “Single Node” option and as a scalable “Multi Node” version.

The new release further optimizes the integration of PoINT Data Replicator with the S3-to-Tape solution PoINT Archival Gateway. This allows users to store their data directly and cost-efficiently on tape when repatriating it from the cloud, while taking advantage of the security and archiving features of PoINT Archival Gateway.
