The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “A data storage device comprises a disk array including a plurality of disks; and a redundant array of independent disks (RAID) controller configured to manage the disk array according to a RAID mode, wherein each of the plurality of disks includes: a nonvolatile memory device having a plurality of zones of which supports a sequential write operation; and a random write buffer associated to one of the plurality of zones, the random write buffer having a start address that is indicated by a write pointer, the write pointer indicating a location where a next write operation is to be performed.”
