Eurotech/InoNet Launches InoBay 2U Storage Extender Rugged Storage Extension for Data Intensive Vehicle Testing

InoNet Computer GmbH, manufacturer of high-performance computing solutions for industrial applications and test applications in vehicle development, presents the lnoBay-2U storage extender designed specifically for use in data-intensive test environments in the automotive industry.

“Designed for smooth in-vehicle use, the lnoBay-2U storage extender enables seamless integration into existing test environments and data logger architectures, including those from third-party providers. Thanks to its universal compatibility, customers benefit from maximum flexibility and a holistic, sustainable test infrastructure, eliminating the need for additional investment in new logger hardware. A key component of the solution is the modular QuickTray-v3, which boasts a high storage capacity of up to 240TB and write speeds of up to 26GB/s (depending on the SSD configuration and RAID level). This enables longer test drives without storage changes and reduces downtimes. Thanks to the hot-plug function of the QuickTray-v3, data can be transferred directly to the ingest station/evaluation stations after the drive without interrupting the system. The integrated data encryption reliably protects sensitive test data both during storage and transfer.

Thanks to close cooperation with Solidigm and early provision of high-performance SSD samples, including reliable reliability reports, extensive testing could be carried out quickly, and the project was realised successfully in a short time.

Even under demanding test conditions involving increased temperatures, shocks, and vibrations, the robust Solidigm SSDs deliver reliable performance. Their high storage capacity and increased data density enable more precise and comprehensive recording of driving data per test kilometers.

Mastering data-intensive test drives
The solution addresses key challenges in test data acquisition. A leading manufacturer was faced with the task of efficiently implementing several 100,000s hours of testing with limited resources and a high volume of data. Traditional storage solutions were not sufficient for this. The jointly developed storage extension is already being used successfully and supports test engineers with reliable data acquisition, fast transfer, and intuitive handling – from the vehicle to the data lake.
