Availability of Virtuozzo Hybrid Infrastructure 7.0

External storage via admin UI, secure-by-default compute, and 3x faster S3 for service providers

Virtuozzo Hybrid Infrastructure 7.0 is available, and it introduces several updates designed to simplify external storage integration, enforce secure configurations by default, and improve both performance and observability across the platform.

Virtuozzo Hybrid Infrastructure 7.0 1

This release is purpose-built for service providers delivering modern cloud infrastructure, S3-compatible storage, and secure IaaS solutions at scale — all while reducing operational complexity.

Below, we break down the most impactful improvements in this release and what value they bring.

External Storage Integration from Admin Panel
A new guided interface in the Admin Panel enables storage administrators to attach, configure, and monitor external storage systems without the need for CLI-based configuration or custom integration.

Using a built-in, guided wizard, administrators can now connect FC, iSCSI, or NFS storage systems through a Cinder-compatible interface. The setup process is streamlined to reduce human error and to ensure correct configurations, even for complex environments. Specifically tested integrations for Pure Storage, Inc. and NetApp, Inc. — long-standing partners in the Virtuozzo ecosystem — make onboarding even faster for those using these platforms.

Virtuozzo Hybrid Infrastructure 7.0 2

Once configured, storage usage and health metrics are visible through integrated Grafana dashboards, giving operational teams real-time visibility into performance and wear levels.

For service providers, this not only speeds up infrastructure rollouts but also enables a more flexible service portfolio.

Graphical S3 Bucket Policy Builder and Up to 3x Faster Reads
Another standout feature in Virtuozzo Hybrid Infrastructure 7.0 release is the graphical S3 bucket policy builder, which brings centralized, IAM-compatible access control into a user-friendly interface. Built for both multi-tenant service provider environments and security-conscious end users, this feature makes it significantly easier to define who can access what — and under what conditions.

Key Capabilities:

  • Centralized, JSON-based access policies using a visual builder
  • Fully compatible with AWS IAM standards and PBAC (Policy-Based Access Control) Grant access to specific users, domains, or globally, with support for aws:SourceIp, s3:TlsVersion, object-level permissions and ACLs
  • Policies are self-managed by bucket owners, simplifying delegation in multi-tenant setups

Virtuozzo Hybrid Infrastructure 7.0 3

In addition to access control improvements, S3 performance has seen major boost:

  • Up to 3× faster S3 GET throughput — reaching 10 GB/s per node with the recommended 6 object storage service setup
  • Optimized for analytics, AI/ML, and media-heavy workloads

These improvements put Virtuozzo’s object storage performance and flexibility on the same level with top high-performance storage platforms — while remaining cost-effective and open-source compatible.

Predefined Security Policies for Default-Secure Compute Projects
Virtuozzo Hybrid Infrastructure 7.0 introduces the ability to define default security rules that are automatically applied when new compute projects are created. This makes it easier to maintain consistent and secure networking policies across your infrastructure from day one.

Key capabilities:

  • Predefine ingress and egress rules for both IPv4 and IPv6 traffic
  • Apply rules to default security groups created with new projects
  • Use templates compatible with the OpenStack Neutron API
  • Manage rules through the API: create, list, modify, delete
  • Support for filtering by IP address, port, protocol, traffic direction, and remote groups

This enhancement gives platform operators precise control over default network behavior while simplifying project provisioning. It helps ensure tenant environments follow security best practices automatically — no manual steps required.

Additional Enhancements in Version 7.0
Alongside the above main improvements, Virtuozzo Hybrid Infrastructure 7.0 includes several quality-of-life and performance updates that further improve platform reliability and flexibility:

  • Automatic SSD/NVMe Wear-Level Detection
Proactively identifies disk wear-out risks to reduce chances of silent failures and cluster degradation. Includes Prometheus integration for real-time monitoring.
  • Improved Metering During Erasure Coding Schema Changes
Avoids quota overages and billing discrepancies when re-encoding large volumes of backup data.
  • IPv6 Support for S3 Services
Dual-stack deployments are now easier, thanks to native IPv6 support in the S3 stack.
  • Cluster Configuration Monitoring and Drift Detection
Helps identify misconfigurations before they affect performance or data availability. Alerts and metrics are integrated with Prometheus and compatible alerting systems.
  • Multi-Subnet Support in VM Networks
Allows the creation of multiple IP subnets within a single VM network, simplifying IP management and reducing reliance on VLANs.
  • Platform-Wide Stability and Observability Improvements
Improvements in telemetry, test coverage, and error detection enhance platform stability.

Upgrade Steps
If you are ready to upgrade to Virtuozzo Hybrid Infrastructure 7.0:

  • Navigate to the SETTINGS > UPDATE section in your admin panel.
  • Initiate the upgrade process.

Note: During the upgrade, an automated reboot of the nodes will occur one at a time. For clusters without redundancy of services or data, the storage service and admin panel may be temporarily unavailable.

New to Virtuozzo Hybrid Infrastructure?
