Synology Launches DiskStation 8-Bay DS1825+ and 2-Bay DS725+ NAS

Synology, Inc. launches 2 new DiskStation models, the DS1825+ and DS725+, delivering high-performance, scalable storage solutions, tailored for the needs of businesses, creative professionals and home offices.

High Performance and Scalable Design

The DS1825+ is an 8-bay storage solution equipped with dual 2.5GbE ports and 2 M.2 NVMe slots, supporting SSD caching or the creation of an all-flash storage pool. It also includes a PCIe 3.0 expansion slot for optional 10/25GbE network upgrades. The system delivers up to 2,239MB/s read and 1,573MB/s write performance with SSDs, making it for high-throughput workloads. For future expansion, the DS1825+ supports up to 2x5-bay DX525 expansion units, allowing raw storage capacity to scale up to 360TB ⁽¹⁾.

The DS725+, while compact with 2 bays, supports 1xDX525 expansion unit for up to 140TB of raw storage ⁽¹⁾. It also features a 2.5GbE port, a 1GbE port, and dual M.2 NVMe slots for SSD cache or high-speed storage, bringing enterprise-grade flexibility to smaller or remote environments.

Both systems are engineered as full-featured platforms and are optimized for performance and long-term reliability with Synology hard drives. A carefully curated compatibility list ensures tight integration, backed by over 7,000 hours of testing. To ensure consistent performance, DSM on both devices requires compatible hard drives ⁽²⁾ for installation.

Built for Modern Workflows
Running Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM), the DS1825+ and the DS725+ offer a wide range of data management features:

• Synology Drive turns each system into a private cloud with cross-platform file access, syncing, and collaboration tools.
• Active Backup Suite provides centralized backup for Windows, macOS, Linux devices, virtual machines, and cloud services.
• Surveillance Station offers scalable video management and real-time analytics to secure physical environments.

Availability:
The DS1825+ and DS725+ will be available starting July 8, 2025, through the company’s global network of partners and resellers.
