Swissbit AG introduces the M1100 series, a compact and highly reliable e.MMC solution designed for industrial boot drives, data logging, and IoT applications.

Swissbit M1100 Series Intro

The latest addition to the company’s e.MMC portfolio meets the increasing demand for ultra-small, vibration-resistant designs. The M1100 series includes 2 models: the M1100 with 8GB based on MLC NAND flash and the M1700 with 4GB, preconfigured in pSLC mode for maximum endurance. Designed for environments requiring minimal storage capacity but maximum reliability, these e.MMCs are ideal for applications such as data loggers, boot drives, and smart metering devices.

Engineered for industrial applications, the M1100 series operates across a wide temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C. To meet the stringent requirements of demanding automotive environments, both versions are also available for an extended temperature range of -40 °C to +105 °C. Manufactured and tested in-house at Swissbit’s production facility in Berlin, Germany, the M1100 series ensures full supply chain control and consistent quality.

Predictable service life, data refresh, and reliability
The M1100 family follows the JEDEC e.MMC 5.1 standard with a 153-ball BGA package, offering exceptional power efficiency, robustness, and predictive maintenance capabilities. In addition to its role in boot drives and data logging, it is well-suited for use in embedded systems and IoT applications requiring high reliability and long-term data retention.

To further enhance reliability, the M1100 series incorporates advanced firmware features that ensure long-term data integrity. Real-time device health monitoring is available via standard register access, eliminating the need for special drivers. The M1100 firmware provides automatic background refresh for read-only areas and robust error correction, ensuring data consistency even under prolonged exposure to high temperatures. Additionally, enhanced power-fail protection safeguards against data corruption, making it a trusted solution for mission-critical industrial applications.
