Qnap Adds Support for QuTS hero OS to TS-253E and TS-453E Desktop NAS
2 or 4-bay NAS with ZFS Immutability, data integrity, optimized SSD applications, and long-term availability (up to 2029).
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on October 8, 2024 at 2:01 pmQNAP Systems, Inc. has added support for QuTS hero, its ZFS-based NAS OS, to the TS-253E and TS-453E NAS models.
- TS-253E-8G: 2 drive bays, 8GB RAM
- TS-453E-8G: 4 drive bays, 8GB RAM
The TS-x53E series is powered by an Intel Celeron J6412 quad-core processor (burst up to 2.6GHz), which will be available and supported by Qnap for an extended period (up to 2029).
The 2-bay TS-253E is currently the firm’s NAS model with the fewest drive bays that support QuTS hero. Now small-sized organizations can also benefit from ZFS technologies to optimize applications that require utmost reliability, such as data integrity with features like Self-healing and WORM snapshots (up to 65,536 versions), and inline data de-dupe for maximizing storage efficiency. Businesses also can deploy a zero RPO DR plan by leveraging real-time SnapSync that achieves real-time data synchronization between 2 NAS.
Note:
- Switching between QTS 5.2.1 and QuTS hero h5.2.1 is currently only available for the TS-253E and TS-453E NAS models. Support for other NAS models will be announced later.
- Users must back up their NAS data to another storage (such as another Qnap NAS, myQNAPcloud Storage or clouds), then switch the OS. (learn more)
- Users can also migrate data from an old QTS NAS to a new QTS NAS with few initial settings. (learn more)
