History 2005: Cisco Gains Share in Modular Switch Segment
SAN FC market grew 10% in 1Q05 over 1Q04.
By Jean Jacques Maleval | October 3, 2024 at 2:00 pmAccording to a report by Dell’Oro Group, the SAN FC market grew 10% in 1Q05 over 1Q04.
During this same 3-month period, port shipments grew 38%, further indicating healthy demand from companies to network their storage resources.
The report shows that the annual growth was equally supported by sales in both the SAN switch and HBA segments.
“The report also indicates that market shares shifted during 1Q05. In the modular switch market segment, Cisco has continued its string of sequential quarterly revenue growth as customers continue to adopt its MDS 9500,” said John Carvell, principal analyst for SAN research at Dell’Oro Group. “During the quarter, some of the other major vendors in this segment were plagued with one-time issues, such as consumers delaying purchasing decisions in light of uncertainty regarding product plans for McDATA, the leading vendor in this segment, and CNT due to their pending merger.“
