History 2005: Veritas Discreetly Acquired Datacenter Technologies
Start-up CAS company based in Lochristi, Belgium
By Jean Jacques Maleval | September 30, 2024 at 3:01 pmVeritas Software discreetly acquired Datacenter Technologies (DCT), a start-up based in Lochristi, Belgium with an office in Foster City, CA.
No details were available and DCT didn’t answer our emails inquiring about the subject.
Executives at the company were chattier before the acquisition. Veritas will obtain, through DCT, a major technology for ILM applications, CAS software, for archiving documents and images with a special system for avoiding duplicating data by breaking down each file into smaller segments in order to compare those with all others.
Like FilePool, acquired by EMC in $50 million in 2001 and originally behind Centera’s technology, this other Belgian CAS company found its own U.S.buyer. DCT, with 50 people and annual revenues of $2 million, had until now raised $17 million in 3 financial rounds, Partech International being the leading investor.
