PoINT Software and OSNexus Cooperate
For backup and long-term archiving in heterogeneous storage environments
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on August 20, 2024 at 2:00 pmThe close cooperation between the storage specialists PoINT Software & Systems GmbH and OSNexus Corp. has resulted in a scalable solution for backup and long-term archiving in heterogeneous, globally distributed storage environments.
With their partnership, the 2 partners address the complex challenges of data and storage management. The joint solution offers an on-prem Glacier storage class with tape that integrates with the QuantaStor platform via the standardized S3 interface.
Users benefit from OSNexus’ QuantaStor storage management solution, which simplifies storage management across sites and technologies under a single namespace. Tiering policies automatically move data between storage classes, including a tape-based storage class for backup and archiving. PoINT Archival Gateway enables tape integration into QuantaStor via the standardized S3 interface and thus provides an on-prem Glacier class in a QuantaStor Storage Grid.
In addition to its high cost and energy efficiency, the classic backup medium tape offers a particularly high level of security, compliance and cyber resilience through air-gapping.
The joint solution is performing and scalable. For flexibility and investment protection, it has vendor-independent hardware support.
The partnership focuses on the challenges of unchecked data growth in increasingly geographically distributed storage environments.
“Our customers have to manage more and more different workflows, storage technologies, storage methods and protocols, while at the same time archiving a large part of their data for the long term, ” explains Sebastian Klee, CMO, PoINT Software & Systems. “The combination of QuantaStor and PoINT Archival Gateway provides the greatest possible transparency. Data security, adherence to backup plans and legally compliant archiving – we solve this with tape integration via S3 in the QuantaStor Storage Grid.“
