History 2005: HDD-Based Voice Recorder for Big Talkers
Maximum recording time from 57 to 693 hours depending of MP3 compression mode
By Jean Jacques Maleval | August 14, 2024 at 2:01 pmWhere won’t HDD makers look for a new niche? Apparently they haven’t ruled out voice recorders.

At least not Sanyo, a specialist in the devices, which launched HDR-B5GM, a unit that integrates Seagate’s 5GB one-inch HDD, for a maximum recording time from 57 to 693h depending of the quality of the MP3 compression mode.
It can also be used as an MP3 or WMA player and is equipped with USB interface.
In addition to the HOD, the unit contains an SD card slot to transfer the data with the disk.
The HDR-B5GM, with built-in microphone and speakers, will be sold in Japan beginning in March 2005 for $507.
