History 2004: Tandberg Switches from Quantum to Exabyte Partnership
For new mid-range library 3800
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 24, 2024 at 2:01 pmTandberg Data has revealed a new mid-range library, the 3800, that can contain from 2 LTO-2 tape drives and 20 cartridges up to 8 drives and 143 slots with a 5-media entry/exit port and SCSI and native FC interfaces in a 20U form factor.
It features Web management software and a partitioning function to allow 4 virtual libraries to be set-up.
Price is €27,890 with 2 drives.
While until now, Tandberg distributed only Quantum’s mid-range libraries, this time the Norwegian firm seems to have turned to Exabyte for its newest devices (apparently the same as the Exabyte’s Magnum 8×143), which proves yet again that relations between Tandberg and Quantum have visibly deteriorated.
