History 2004: First Mobile Phone with HDD
For $800 from Samsung
By Jean Jacques Maleval | May 28, 2024 at 2:01 pmThis is an event: the first mobile+ phone that incorporates a hard disk drive.
Samsung pioneers with the launch of its SPH-V5400, a high-end unit with a one-inch 1.5GB HDD (very likely from Cornice), for close to $800.
It also features a 3 megapixel still camera with optical zoom lens and camcorder function, 2.2-inch 240×320 display, MP3 player, FM radio and 2 speakers for 3D sound.
Quite the gem, and priced accordingly.

Note: No more mobile phones are using HDDs, all of them now integrating flash memories.
