Storage Capacity and Consistency in Azure VMware Solution with Pure Cloud Block Store

There’s great news for VMware customers looking to extend or migrate their storage-intensive workloads to the cloud.

Our partners at Pure Storage, Inc. and Microsoft, Corp. have announced that Pure Cloud Block Store for Azure VMware solution is generally available.

Azure VMware solution VMs can use Cloud Block Store for external block-level datastores that expand capacity beyond the vSAN storage included with every Azure VMware solution host. Block Store is based on high performance Azure Premium SSD v2 disks for workloads that require low latency with high IO/s and throughput.

Capacity with consistency
Block Store for Azure VMware Solution can unlock compelling economics for storage-intensive applications like databases and disaster recovery where storage capacity needs to scale independently of compute resources. Cloud Block Store brings features of the Purity Operating Environment to Azure VMware Solution for consistency with customers’ on-premises Pure Storage platforms. That consistency makes it even easier for VMware and Pure’s customers to extend and migrate to the Azure cloud with minimal disruption to operational practices.
