History 2004: Cisco Completes Acquisition of Andiamo
For $750 million
By Jean Jacques Maleval | March 18, 2024 at 12:22 pmOn August 2002, Cisco Systems announced a definitive agreement to buy Andiamo Systems, the company that developed the MOS 9000 intelligent switch, and in which it already held a 44% stake.
The acquisition has only just been completed, for an all stock transaction of $750 million net of Cisco’s ownership and certain adjustments.
Founded in January 2001, Andiamo has 317 employees who will join Cisco’s Internet switching business unit led by Luca Cafiero.
For its last quarter, Cisco sold $40 million in MOS 9000 switches and announced a total of 540 customers.
In comparison, sales from the most recent quarter for its rivals, Brocade, CNT/Inrange and McData were $145 million, $112 million and $114 million, respectively.
