History 2004: eSys, Rising Force in WW HDD Distribution
Claims to be largest WW HDD reseller for 2003 with 12 million units sold or 14% of WW market.
By Jean Jacques Maleval | March 12, 2024 at 2:00 pmeSys Distribution was recently appointed an authorized distributor of Seagate Technology’s HDDs for the Americas.
This is all the more remarkable given that eSys is based in Singapore. Its growth recalls that of Karma, which in a short span of time became one of the largest WW distributor of HDDs (before suddenly crashing for reasons that are still not clear).
The Asian firm, incorporated in 2000, and a distributor of PC components and more importantly HDDs from Maxtor, Seagate and Western Digital, claims it was the largest HDD reseller in the world for 2003 with 12 million units sold or 14% of the WW market of HDD distribution sales.
In no time at all, it founded as many as 25 country subsidiaries and 65 points of presence in Asia, Australia, the Middle East, North America and Europe.
In North America, it has sales and warehouse locations in Los Angeles, New Jersey, Toronto and Miami.
In less than one year, operations have been established in 11 countries in Europe either through new openings or by means of an acquisition (SMG in Germany).
The company now claims ≠2 spot in European distribution of Seagate distribution, after Ingram Micro, based on shipments of a half million drives in 1003.
In India only, eSys has established a network of 18 sales and services branches and has already amassed 50% of the market for HDD distribution.
