History 2004: Financing Round of Several Start-Ups

Sepaton, Voltaire, Actona, Enigma and StorCard

  • Sepaton, formerly SANgate Systems, is in its 4th financial round, raising this time an additional $23.5 million in financing. The company designs and markets virtual tape library systems based on ATA disk arrays.
  • Voltaire has received $15 million in a new 4th round of funding from different venture capitalists, bringing to $50 million the total sum already invested in the IB company.
  • Actona Technologies, formerly VerEdge Technologies, involved in wide area file services solutions, captured $10 million in its 3rd round of funding, bringing its total equity investment to $23 million. As a result of this operation, Peter Levine, a member of the VC firm Mayfield, which led the most recent round, will join the board of Actona. He was also a member of the team that developed the first products at Veritas Software, where he worked 12 years before leaving his final position there as EVP of WW strategic operations in 2001.
  • Enigma Semiconductor, involved in silicon solutions for MAN and storage systems, has just rustled up $12.5 million in its 2nd financial round. The company has executive and sales offices in its Santa Clara, CA, HQ, and engineering operations in Copenhagen, Denmark.
  • Founded by Finis Conner, StorCard completed a $8 million 3rd round of financing, bringing total investment to $14 million.
