Insurgo Technology Partnership Grows Further

Restore Records Management joining

In collaboration with one of the largest tape storage vaults and the largest provider of IT lifecycle services in the country, this will further enhance Insurgo Media Services Limited‘s mission to change the industry standards for the management and secure destruction of sensitive data.

Insurgo

For Restore plc customers, it will provide them with the most secure, traceable and environmentally friendly solution for removing all data on tapes at their end of life.

Utilising Insurgo’s erasure KIT and destruction SWAT technologies paired with Restore’s own version of INVESTIGO tape tracking software, Restore customers will have a complete chain of custody from the moment a tape arrives in storage until the time it is erased, everything will be monitored and controlled in-house. The world-leading, advanced data erasure technology – KIT (Kills Information on Tape) uses a patented magnetic head to remove all traces of data along the tape’s entire length, allowing it to be reused.

In contrast, SWAT uses a similar head technology that will render the tape unusable. Yet, both will update or destroy the tape Cartridge Memory (CM) chip for total assurance of data destruction. What sets this technology apart is its ability to erase data without compromising the core structure of the tape and keeping the cartridge whole for reuse or ease of recycling down to the component level.

Any tapes stored with Restore Records Management, which are no longer required will be Securely passed to Ultratec (part of the Restore Technology group) and will process it using the advanced data destruction drives from Insurgo.

Nigel Dews, MD at Restore Records Management, said: “As an organisation, we continue to evolve and grow, ensuring that we provide the highest standards of service to our clients while minimising our environmental footprint. Our partnership with Insurgo is a major step on this journey, and it aligns seamlessly with our ambition to become a Net Zero organisation by 2035. Crucially, it also provides our customers with an entirely in-house solution to tape storage and erasure, delivering an unbroken chain of custody that keeps their data secure.”

Gavin Griffiths, MD at Insurgo, added: “Our partnership with Restore Records Management, brings the highest level of security and traceability for tape disposal with all the added benefits supporting sustainability, plastic reduction, recycling and in addition offering its clients the greenest approach to secure data erasure on tapes. Restore is dedicated to offering customers a choice of secure, sustainable, and cutting-edge solutions, and we’re delighted to support and welcome them to our technology partner program in the UK.”
