History 2003: Quantum Acquired Start-Up SANlight

For $8.5 million

Quantum has signed a definitive agreement to acquire start-up SANlight for $8.5 million, including 7% already owned by Quantum.

We know very little about SANlight, still in stealth mode, except that the small company, initially based in San Jose, then in Mountain View, CA, is developing a software to “guarantee delivery of storage services to consolidated applications through a policy-based service,” a fairly vague mission.

One of its founders is CEO Mark Kaleem, until now unknown to us.

This article is an abstract of news published on issue 181 on February 2003 from the former paper version of Computer Data Storage Newsletter.
