History 2002: Quantum, LSI and MTI Expand in Ireland

For manufacturing

Quantum will expand its Irish plant in Dundalk, Co. Louth, creating 120 new jobs by the end of 2003. Quantum Peripheral Products, established in 1991 and employing currently 280 people, is a service and repair facility for DLT and SDLT tape drives. Just next door, there was an HDD assembly plant managed by MKE that has since disappeared.

Since June, LSI Logic Storage Systems has been producing its SAN D173 and D178 in a plant in Cork, Ireland, owned by subcontractor Flextronics. These machines, assembled by an average of 35 people, are aimed at European customers of LSI and its OEM, StorageTek.

MTI Technology has completed the transition of its manufacturing facilities in Dublin, Ireland.
