IBM Storage Scale Backup delivers deeper synergies with IBM Storage Protect to offer a competitive licensing bundle for IBM Storage Scale clients looking to protect their data

IBM Storage Scale Backup combines Storage Protect Extended Edition (5725-W99) and Storage Protect for Space Management (5725-X04) in an offering that is priced per terabyte, in alignment with Storage Scale capacity editions. This delivers a comprehensive and competitively priced solution for clients to backup and create an enhanced resiliency option for Storage Scale and Storage Scale Systems.

IBM Storage has realigned offerings under three solution-focused categories:

  • IBM Storage for data and AI
  • IBM Storage for hybrid cloud
  • IBM Storage for data resiliency

Spectrum Scale is renamed to IBM Storage Scale and IBM Spectrum Protect is renamed to IBM Storage Protect.

Storage Scale aligns directly with the company’s strategy for data and AI to focus on accelerating business results and innovation while unlocking the latent value of unstructured data. It delivers this value as an integral part of a global data platform across the unstructured file and object data ecosystem by eliminating data silos, advancing data discovery, and classification.

Storage Scale Backup is supported on the following servers:

  • IBM Power Systems (little endian)
  • x86-64 servers
  • IBM zSystems
  • IBM LinuxONE enterprise servers
