The array delivers read speeds of up to 14GB/s, making it a solution for demanding workflows, such as video editing, 3D rendering, and large-scale data processing.

Recently, a Youtuber created a 32TB storage array using an MSI M.2 xpander-aero RAID card on an MSI TRX40 Creator motherboard with a PCIe Gen4x16 slot, achieving a 28GB/s speed. However, in the present test using 4xS95 8TB SSDs with the Sonnet 4×4 PCIe RAID Card on Apple Mac Pro with a PCIe Gen3x16 slot, the system performance was only half of the PCIe Gen4x16 speed.

Nevertheless, the addlink achieve read speeds of up to 14GB/s, exceeding Sonnet’s claim of up to 11.7GB/s.

The Sonnet 4×4 PCIe Card, paired with 4x8TB S95 NVMe drives, offers a high-performance storage for professional working with large data sets. The S95 NVMe 8TB SSD has TBW value of 5,600, higher than the drive available in Mac Pro. This feature makes the S95 Gen4x4 SSD a solution of any high-end production where large data sets need to be worked with.

The S95 Gen4x4 SSDs are frequently used in Apple Mac Pros and workstations due to their performance and budget-friendly price, which is much less than that charged by Apple for their 8TB SSD. They are solution for demanding workflows such as AI model training, video and audio editing, 3D rendering, and scientific simulations.

The S95 8TB SSD is available for purchase on Amazon webstore.
