History 2001: EMC Acquires Luminate Software for $50 Million in Cash
Getting performance monitoring software for storage-intensive applications
By Jean Jacques Maleval | April 13, 2023 at 2:00 pmEMC is clearly the hungriest among storage players, which works out well, since it is also the richest.
The firm’s latest acquisition is Redwood, CA-based Luminate Software, for $50 million in cash.
The latter company developed performance monitoring software for storage-intensive applications.
EMC reported the transaction was its 7th software acquisition in the past 20 months. Sure enough, after a quick review, we counted Softworks (for $192 million), Terascape Software ($50 million), Avalon Consulting Group ($50 million), CrosStor Software ($300 million), FilePool (less than $50 million) and Digital Bitcasting.
