History 2001: Sun to OEM SAN from HDS?

The rumor, which has made its way as far as The Wall Street Journal, of an OEM agreement for Sun Microsystems to distribute high-end SAND disk arrays made by Hitachi Data Systems, is more and more compelling.

This is not likely to be good news for HP, a longtime rival of Sun, which distributes the same products, nor for EMC, increasingly worried by HDS.

The agreement also indicates that Sun, despite all its lengthy and costly efforts, has not been capable of releasing its own enterprise SAN.
