MagStor White Paper on LTO NanoPure Media with Lower Error Rates Mean Reduced Error Correction Activity
Media features 30%-40% lower error rates than new untested LTO media.
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on December 16, 2022 at 2:01 pmMagStor, Inc. announced a white paper (WP) written by Saliba Technology Solutions Inc. and the demonstration of the performance benefits of NanoPure Media.
NanoPure Media is LTO media that is cleaned, tested and calibrated prior to first use, and features health monitoring capabilities when used in conjunction with backup software including Hedge Canister, and Archiware P5.
The company’s WP demonstrates that NanoPure media has 30%- 40% lower error rates on average than new untested media. This is a significant reduction, made possible by a patent-pending process that reduces media asperities and contamination. In doing so, the media process brings concrete user benefits, improving both the performance and reliability of LTO drives and media: lower error rates mean reduced error correction activity during first use and faster system performance, while cleaner media reduces wear on tape heads and improves their longevity.
NanoPure media is shipping for LTO-7 and LTO-8. LTO-9 will ship in 1Q23.
