History 2000: Dell Created Separate Storage Division

Dell Compute has created a separate storage division headed by Russell H. Holt, 39, most recently VP and GM for Dell’s servers.

He reports to the company’s office of the CEO, which includes Michael Dell and vice-chairman Jim Vanderslice.

The PC manufacturer said that it achieved 70% growth in Y/Y sales of external storage products in 2000, and reported overall storage sales approaching $1 billion annually.
