IBM Offers Additional Ordering Options for Storage Expert Care for Spectrum Fusion HCI Hardware
Providing cost-effective solution for deploying and operating mission-critical applications on Red Hat OpenShift
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 3, 2022 at 2:11 pmIBM Corp.‘s Spectrum Fusion HCI is an integrated compute and storage platform for hosting containerized software and IBM Cloud Paks on a Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform in a client data center.
It provides a cost-effective solution for deploying and operating mission-critical applications on Red Hat OpenShift.
Many organizations follow procurement practices that require software and hardware to be purchased separately, on different schedules, and managed by different teams. Previously, Big Blue required that Spectrum Fusion HCI hardware and its associated software be purchased together in a single transaction. Today, Spectrum Fusion software is able to be purchased separately, most commonly in an Enterprise License Agreement (ELA), and for those licenses to be used to fulfill software licensing requirements for Spectrum Fusion HCI hardware.
Key requirements
- A client must bring enough Spectrum Fusion software to fully license its Spectrum Fusion HCI hardware. Sufficient, unused Spectrum Fusion software licensing must be available on the day Spectrum Fusion HCI hardware is installed into the client data center.
- When Spectrum Fusion HCI hardware is licensed in this manner, all future MES upgrades of Spectrum Fusion HCI appliances must be accompanied by sufficient Spectrum Fusion software licenses to ensure full compliance.
- The client must ensure that Spectrum Fusion HCI has the same term and duration as the ISpectrum Fusion software subscription and support duration. There is no automated way to enforce co-termination of terms.
Planned availability dates:
- October 25, 2022: Feature number AHJ9 under all models except for model C05
- December 9, 2022: Feature number AHJ9 under model C05
