History 2000: Bell Micro Acquires Hammer Storage

After Rorke Data

After signing a letter of intent to acquire Rorke Data, Inc., Bell Microproducts, Inc. more recently okayed a second, to purchase Hammer Storage Solutions.

The plan is to integrate Hammer into Rorke.

Hammer has a long and eventful history: at first it was an outgrowth of Micropolis’ RAID activities, which took the name StreamLogic, a company that would acquire FWB’s hardware business in 1996, only to file Chapter XI proceedings the following year.

Now the firm is specialized in storage solutions for the entertainment industry, with prestigious clients in the US film and television industry.

Also in April, Bell Micro signed a letter of agreement to buy Ideal Hardware plc, a UK-based subsidiary of InterX Plc. This acquisition also targets the storage market.
