Sony Corporation, Tokyo, Japan, has been assigned a patent (11,443,767) developed by Yamaga, Minoru, Iwama, Takanobu, and Takahashi, Jun, Miyagi, Japan, for “magnetic recording tape having magnetic layer indentations and manufacturing method thereof, and magnetic recording tape cartridge.“
The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “A magnetic recording tape having a plural-layer structure including at least a magnetic layer is provided. The tape has a total thickness of 5.6 .mu.m or smaller, and includes a plurality of indentations disposed in a surface of the magnetic layer. A value obtained by dividing a depth D1 of each indentation with a thickness D2 of the magnetic layer is 15% or greater. The magnetic layer includes a plurality of indentations formed therein, a plurality of the indentations each has a depth of 20% or greater of the thickness of the magnetic layer, and the number of the indentations is 55 or more per 6,400 .mu.m.sup.2 of a surface area of the magnetic layer.”
The patent application was filed on November 19, 2018 (16/605,469).
Magnetic recording tape and cartridge
Sony Corporation, Tokyo, Japan, has been assigned a patent (11,437,066) developed by Tachibana, Junichi, Oikawa, Sogo, Suzuki, Koji, Sai, Teruo, and Ozaki, Tomoe, Miyagi, Japan, for “magnetic recording tape and magnetic recording tape cartridge.“
The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “To provide a magnetic recording tape and the like that have excellent magnetic properties and exhibit a favorable SNR. There are provided a magnetic recording tape and the like including at least: a base layer that includes a long film having flexibility; and a magnetic layer formed on a side of one main surface of the base layer, in which an under layer and a seed layer are provided in the stated order from a side of the magnetic layer toward a side of the base layer between the magnetic layer and the base layer, the underlayer contains at least Co and Cr, and has an average atomic number ratio represented by the following formula (1): Co.sub.(100-y)Cr.sub.y (where y is within a range of 37.ltoreq.y.ltoreq.45.), and the seed layer formed directly on the base layer has a film thickness of 5 nm or more and 30 nm or less, and contains Ti and O and has an average atomic number ratio represented by the following formula (2): Ti.sub.(100-x)O.sub.x (where x.ltoreq.10.) or contains Ti–Cr–O and has an average atomic number ratio represented by the following formula (3): (TiCr).sub.(100-x)O.sub.x (where x.ltoreq.10.).”
The patent application was filed on February 14, 2019 (17/040,611).
Cartridge including tape-shaped magnetic recording medium
Sony Group Corporation, Tokyo, Japan, has been assigned a patent (11,423,946) developed by Nakashio, Eiji, Anno, Kazuo, Tochikubo, Shinya, and Iwama, Takanobu, Tokyo, Japan, for a “cartridge including tape-shaped magnetic recording medium.“
The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “A cartridge is provided and includes tape-shaped magnetic recording medium, and cartridge memory, wherein cartridge memory includes communication unit that communicates with recording/reproducing device in state where cartridge is loaded on recording/reproducing device, storage unit, and control unit that stores, reads, and transmits information, wherein information includes manufacturing information of cartridge and adjustment information for adjusting a tension applied to the tape-shaped magnetic recording medium in a longitudinal direction of tape-shaped magnetic recording medium thereof, tape-shaped magnetic recording medium has a plurality of servo bands, and wherein a temperature expansion coefficient .alpha. of the tape-shaped magnetic recording medium satisfies 6 ppm/.degree. C..ltoreq..alpha..ltoreq.8 ppm/.degree. C.”
The patent application was filed on August 30, 2021 (17/460,542).
