Ampex Awarded Boeing Contract

To support US Air Force B52 commercial engine replacement program

The Ampex Fault Maintenance Recorder will store critical information for the platform using its network file sever capabilities. Ampex’s TuffCORD NAS device is part of the Ampex TuffServ product line of rugged NAS systems and provides the foundation for the Fault Maintenance Recorder.

TuffServ’s are multi-functional devices for customers who need a data system to operate in harsh environments in the field, aiborne, at sea, and even in space. They are available for the spectrum of applications to include data acquisition and storage of video, radar, imagery, bus, and flight test instrumentation data. They can also function as whole platform servers, mission computers, or supplemental processors. The contract with The Boeing Company represents another major milestone for Ampex and the defense industry.

Ampex will complete work at its Las Cruces, NM, facility as well as at its Silicon Valley HQs in Hayward, CA.

Delta Information Systems is a strategic collection of closely related businesses in the aerospace and defense industry. It is organized into 2 business areas. The Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) and Mission Systems Business Area consists of Delta Digital Video (DDV) and Ampex Data Systems Corporation (ADSC).

ADSC is a supplier of ruggedized airborne recording, processing and network data storage systems used in flight test, ISR and mission applications. Ampex designs, develops, and manufactures a line of IRIG106 Chapter 10 solid-state recorder systems, network file servers, and family of mission recorders that support commercial and military aircraft manufacturers.

DDV produces video compression and video scan conversion products for aerospace, defense, law enforcement and remote monitoring applications. A key product area is rugged airborne video compression units used in unmanned aerial vehicles.

The aerospace telemetry business area consists of GDP Space Systems (GDP), Acroamatics, Inc., and Wideband Systems, Inc. (WSI).

GDP produces data acquisition, distribution conversion and test products for flight test and satellite command and control applications. It has supported high profile programs such as the JPL Mars Rover programs by supplying extreme performance receivers which recover data and images returned from Mars. 

Acroamatics produces data processing and display systems with an expertise in real time, low latency telemetry data processing and display systems. Its products are for aircraft and missile flight test, launch monitoring and range safety applications.

WSI designs and manufactures sophisticated recording instruments for the aerospace, communications, and intelligence marketplace. It specializes in custom designed recording systems as well as provide standard, off-the-shelf recording products satisfying a range of demanding requirements.
