The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “A cartridge memory is a cartridge memory used in a magnetic tape cartridge, including: an antenna unit, a storage unit that stores data, and a control unit that reads the data from the storage unit in response to a request from a recording/reproduction apparatus, adds an error correction code to the data, and transmits the obtained data via the antenna unit.”
