History (1999): Bob Stephens CEO, Adaptec

At Adaptec, the position of CEO, held since July 1998 on an interim basis by Larry Boucher, now goes to Bob Stephens, the company’s president and COO.

Boucher will become COB.

Stephens, like many storage executives, began his career at IBM, then moved to Western Digital before joining Emulex as CEO. He then founded Power I/O, acquired in 1995 by Adaptec, where he was named COO, then president in 1998.
