Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit Chooses Veeam

Veeam Software, Inc. announced that The Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU) selected its Availability Suite Enterprise Plus and VeeamONE to backup essential applications that support the delivery of government services.

MAMPU provides IT services for the Malaysian government and operates Malaysia’s public sector data center, which is used by more than 200 agencies in the country. The organization is responsible for keeping this data center running smoothly and has a SLA with every government agency to ensure 99.5% availability for critical systems.

With more government services being digitized, MAMPU recognized that workloads in its datacenter were set to grow – placing additional pressure on its backup and recovery solutions.

The Government Data Center (GDC) team at MAMPU said: “Many of the services we provide to government agencies run on VMs, and each month we create more than 20 new VMs to meet rising demand. With our virtual environment expected to expand further in the months ahead, we recognized that our existing backup solutions simply weren’t cost-effective to support future growth.“

To ensure it could meet its availability SLA for years to come, MAMPU decided to replace its legacy backup and recovery solutions with Availability Suite Enterprise Plus and chose to manage backups with VeeamONE. Since deploying these solutions, it can restore VMs 100% faster, ensure availability across its entire datacenter and scale its backup infrastructure to meet growing workloads.

The GDC team said: “By reducing recovery times from 2 hours to under 60 minutes for our virtual environments with Veeam, we’re much better placed to reduce service disruption from unplanned downtime. This empowers government agencies to deliver reliable, responsive services to citizens.”
