IBM Spectrum Virtualize Software for FlashSystem 9500 delivers software maintenance (SWMA) features for countries without IBM Storage Expert Care support

IBM Storage offers clients a streamlined approach for managing its SWMA options on initial orders. SWMA is designed to provide comprehensive coverage for software license acquisition, product upgrades, and remotely delivered technical support. Subscriptions give you entitlement to product upgrades, fixes, and fix packages.

IBM Storage offers SWMA options for Spectrum Virtualize software for FlashSystem 9500 Controller (PID 5639-011) and Spectrum Virtualize software for FlashSystem 9000 Expansion (PID 5639-EB2) in countries where Storage Expert Care offerings are not available. These offerings are available in 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 years of support. These options are available in e-config for the applicable countries and assigned automatically.

FlashSystem 9500

Software requirements

Spectrum Virtualize software for FlashSystem 9500 (5639-011) is required for all FlashSystem 9500 controller enclosures.
Spectrum Virtualize software for FlashSystem 9000 Expansion (5639-EB2) is required for all FlashSystem 9000 Machine Type 4666 expansion enclosures.
Externally virtualized storage is subject to the same capacity-based licenses as SVC and is optional.

Hardware requirements

Spectrum Virtualize software for FlashSystem 9500 Controller with PID 5639-011 is only installable on IBM FlashSystem 9500 MTMs 4666-AH8 and 4666-UH8.
Spectrum Virtualize software for FlashSystem 9000 Expansion with PID 5639-EB2 is only installable on IBM FlashSystem 9000 MTMs 4666-AFF and 4666-A9F.

Additional requirements

An IBM Storage Expert Care Service and Support option is recommended when configuring an FlashSystem 9500 machine type 4666 with these software licenses.
A 3-month SWMA offering will be defaulted when IBM Storage Expert Care Service and Support option is not selected.
For countries where IBM Storage Expert Care is not available, traditional SWMA options are available through e-config.
Current support summaries, including specific software, hardware, and firmware levels supported, are maintained at IBM FlashSystem 9500 support website.
