R&D: Simulation on Non-Axisymmetric Ring Resonator With Nano-Antenna for HAMR

Proposed device for HAMR in which metal nano-antenna is attached to semiconductor ring resonator

IEEE Xplore has published, in 2021 26th Microoptics Conference (MOC) proceedings, an article written by Jinghan Chen, Ryuichi Katayama, Information Electronics, Graduate School of Engineering, Fukuoka Institute of Technology, Fukuoka, Japan, and Satoshi Sugiura, InnovaStella, Inc.

Abstract: In the proposed device for heat-assisted magnetic recording, in which a metal nano-antenna is attached to a semiconductor ring resonator, it was proved through a numerical simulation that the energy density of the near-field light at the tip of nano-antenna can be increased by making the ring resonator non-axisymmetric.
