History (1998): First HDD for Sub-$1,000 PCs From Seagate
ST321 with 2.1GB, less than $100

The most important news as far as the drive is concerned, that is to say, its price, has not yet been revealed.
“It will cost less than $100,” was all Seagate Europe’s spokesperson had to say.
Specs are: 2.1GB capacity, 3.5-inch form factor, Ultra ATA interface, 11ms average seek, MR heads, EPRML, low acoustics, 150G non-operational shock, advanced power management for energy conservation.
Sample quantities have already gone to OEMs and production will begin during 3Q98.
