HighPoint RocketMate 110 Rugged/Portable/Pocket-Sized External M.2 NVMe Enclosure With USB 3.2 Interface

HighPoint Technologies, Inc. launches the RocketMate 110, a rugged, portable, pocket-sized external M.2 NVMe to 20Gb/s USB 3.2 enclosure designed for mobile professionals that need performance hot-swappable storage with USB Type-C connectivity.

Instant access to NVMe storage; any place, any time; With RocketMate 110, all user need is a USB-C port.
The RocketMate 110 includes a half-meter USB Type-C cable rated for 20Gb:s transfers. If you need a longer cable, the company recommend pairing it with 1-meter USB-C31-1MC, which is also 10G/20Gb/s certified.

The product can be connected to any i20Gb/s USB 3.2 controller or Thunderbolt 3 Type-C port; these will provide the transfer bandwidth needed to get the most out of M.2 SSD. If users are willing to take the performance hit, it is compatible with Thunderbolt 4 (TB4 can only support PCIe 3.0 x1 transfer speeds), and backwards compatible with any USB 3.x Type-C port.

The RocketMate 110 can accommodate any PCIe Gen3 or Gen4 2242/2260/2280 M.2 NVMe SSD, and does not impose any capacity limitations.

Its all-metal construction protects M.2 NVMe SSD from the daily grind.

Unlike most NVMe to USB solutions, the RocketMate 110 was built to last. And unlike the competition, the company didn’t skimp on materials – you won’t find flimsy plastic, stray wires or questionable build quality in a RocketMate solution. Accidents happen; things get dropped, stepped on and crushed, and the weather doesn’t care one ounce about you or your gear.

Overbuilt for industrial applications: The construction is a direct result of the original target market – industrial applications. The enclosure needed to be compact and serviceable using over-the-counter tools, but also needed to be able to protect NVMe media from motion and impact damage, the elements, efficiently dissipate waste heat without depending on outside hardware, and be capable of running 24/7 in a variety of working environments without regular maintenance schedules. Overkill, perhaps, but all of this makes it a portable solution for today’s mobile professional.

Waterproof, dustproof and airtight: Another thing to consider this season; the RocketMate 110 is waterproof. The enclosure is IP68 compliant (the highest rating for electronic storage devices), and protects NVMe media from dust and moisture. The USB-C port and M.2 slot are protected by a layer of malleable silicon to ensure moisture is kept away from key electronic components. Now, we do don’t envision (most) RocketMate customers taking their units out for a swim on a regular basis, but it does mean you don’t have to worry about getting stuck in a downpour; your data is safe.

If you want to guarantee maximum performance, pair the RocketMate 110 with company’s RocketU 1411C HBA. The half-height, half-length RU1411C has a single USB Type-C port which is powered by a dedicated 20Gb/s USB 3.2 controller and PCIe 3.0 x4 bandwidth. In fact, we will be offering this combination as a bundle through select retailers and our Estore.

If user need more than 20Gb/s, you can pair multiple RM110’s with the RocketU 1400 series USB controllers, such as the 4-port RU1444C and 8-port RU1488C. RU1400 series controllers sport dedicated, independent device ports; each port is backed by USB 3.2 20Gb/s controller IC, and PCIe 3.0 8 0r x16 host bandwidth. The ports provide 100% independent device paths and power delivery – each RM110 can be accessed individually or concurrently.
