Challenge
Growth of business required upgrading of IT infrastructure by adding more capacity to storage and servers and providing higher speed (switch from HDDs to SSDs). Limited budget did not allow buying expansion to the existing tier-1 storage (legacy model of EMC, expensive vendor-specific expansion) and costly FC switches.

After market investigation it was decided to test Qsan Technology, Inc. storage.

After testing, the customer made his choice for XCubeSAN 5226D + XCubeDAS 5326D + XCubeDAS 5324D. Using a hybrid system allows to achieve the best price /performance ratio. Critical data is stored on SSDs, less popular data on 10,000rpm HDDs and cold one is located on large capacity 7,200rpm HDDs. Auto tiering provides automatic data distribution helping to achieve performance and lower TCO. The infrastructure was updated with an increase in capacity and disk space at a reasonable price. Ten servers work with XS5226D storage in a fault-tolerant mode without using expensive switches. The use of compatible drives made it possible to no longer depend on the pricing policy of the storage vendor. Most of necessary features do not require separate licensing (snapshots, clones).
