Servo write head, servo pattern recording apparatus, method of producing magnetic tape, and magnetic tape
Sony Corporation, Tokyo, Japan, has been assigned a patent (11,195,550) developed by Morita, Hiroshi, Miyagi, Japan, for servo write head, servo pattern recording apparatus, method of producing magnetic tape, and magnetic tape.

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “[Object] To provide a technology of a servo write head and the like capable of improving the recording accuracy of a servo pattern. [Solving Means] A servo write head according to the present technology includes a recording surface. This recording surface has a first region and a second region, and records a servo pattern on a magnetic tape by a magnetic gap, the first region being formed in with a first width a width direction and corresponding to a position where the magnetic gap is provided in a longitudinal direction perpendicular to the width direction, the second region being formed with a second width narrower than the first width and corresponding to a position where no magnetic gap is provided in the longitudinal direction.

The patent application was filed on November 12, 2019 (16/964,327).

Magnetic recording medium
Sony Corporation, Tokyo, Japan, has been assigned a patent (11,189,314) developed by Yamaga, Minoru, and Sekiguchi, Noboru, Miyagi, Japan, for a magnetic recording medium.

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “A magnetic recording medium is provided and includes a substrate, a magnetic layer, an underlayer between the substrate and the magnetic layer, and a back layer, wherein (wmax-wmin)/wmin.ltoreq.400 [ppm] (1) where wmax and wmin are respectively maximum and minimum of average values of width corresponding to samples of magnetic recording medium measured after the samples are stored for two hours under storage conditions, a loading tension in the longitudinal direction of the magnetic recording medium (a temperature and a relative humidity) for each of the samples, and a width of a sample of the magnetic recording medium at 25.degree. C. and 50% relative humidity and without loading is 1/2 inch.

The patent application was filed on January 22, 2021 (17/156,064).

Magnetic recording medium
Sony Corporation, Tokyo, Japan, has been assigned a patent (11,183,213) developed by Kataguchi, Takashi, Ichise, Natsuki, and Takahashi, Takeshi, Tokyo, Japan, for a magnetic recording medium.

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “The present disclosure provides a tape-shaped magnetic recording medium, including: a base; and a magnetic layer that is provided on the base and contains a magnetic powder, in which an average particle volume V of the magnetic powder is 2,000 nm.sup.3 or less, an average thickness of the magnetic recording medium is 5.3 .mu.m or less, a thermal stability K.sub.uV/k.sub.BT of the magnetic recording medium is 60 or more, and a ratio Hrp/Hc1 of a residual coercive force Hrp of the magnetic recording medium measured using a pulsed magnetic field to a coercive force Hc1 of the magnetic recording medium in a perpendicular direction is 2.10 or less.

The patent application was filed on July 1, 2020 (17/257,461).

High density magnetic recording medium and cartridge
Sony Corporation, Tokyo, Japan, has been assigned a patent (11,183,209) developed by Yamaga, Minoru, Sato, Tooru, Miura, Toshiaki, Iwama, Takanobu, and Takahashi, Jun, Miyagi, Japan, for high density magnetic recording medium and cartridge.

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “A magnetic recording medium in a shape of a tape that is long in a longitudinal direction and is short in a width direction is provided, the medium including: a base material, and a magnetic layer, in which the magnetic layer includes a data band long in the longitudinal direction in which a data signal is to be written, and a servo band long in the longitudinal direction in which a servo signal is written, and in the magnetic layer, a degree of vertical orientation is greater than or equal to 65%, a half width of a solitary waveform in a reproduction waveform of the servo signal is less than or equal to 195 nm, a thickness of the magnetic layer is less than or equal to 90 nm, and a thickness of the base material is less than or equal to 4.2 .mu.m.

The patent application was filed on February 18, 2019 (16/970,247).
