History (1997): SNIA Born

November 19 marks the founding of the Storage Network Industry Association (www.snia.org) “to define the standards, enable the infrastruaures, and create a forum, binding the IS, integration, and vendor communities together.”

The organization will be headquartered at the Strategic Research Corp., in Santa Barbara, CA.

The goal is to attain, within one year, 200 corporate members and 1,000 individual members, which would provide an annual budget of $1.3 million.
