History (1997): EMC to Double WW Manufacturing Capacity

A new 555,000 square-foot facility will be constructed at Franklin Industrial Park, in Franklin, MA.
In addition, the company will double the size of its current Cork, Ireland, plant to a total of 400,000 square-feet.

Both projects are expected to be operational by the end of 1998.
The Massachusetts expansion will create 1,000 jobs over the next two years, while the Ireland one will require an additional 500 employees.

Note: In 2016, Dell EMC to cut jobs at Cork data storage business. Job losses expected to number about 50 as business is merged with Dell after takeover.
