History (1997): Maxtor HDD Facility in China

Hyundai to invest in excess of $150 million

Hyundai Electronics will invest in excess of $150 million to realize an old project: a HDD facility in China, which would supplement Maxtor’s existing manufacturing plant in Singapore.

The facility will be located in the Economic and Development Zone in Dalian, a major port city in the province of Liaoning.

The new 420,000 square foot plant will be operational at the end of 1998 and will employ approximately 5,000 people.

Hyundai hopes to double the total production capacity of its subsidiary once fully operational.
