NAB Show: Promise Technology Updates Pegasus Series Storage Systems to Support M1 Chip Macs

Improving compatibility for Apple users

Promise Technology, Inc. launches a service release for its Pegasus Series in the run-up to the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show’s Virtual Pavilion from October 9-13, 2021.

This year’s show will be virtual catering to content professionals across the content continuum, while unveiling the latest in content creation technologies and audio and video experiences.

In the past decade, Promise has been dedicated to serving the Mac community with up-to-date technologies. The Pegasus Series is now supporting M1-based Macs ‘natively’ to offer efficiency, effectiveness, and convenience in advance.

Promise Pegasus R4i

The service release features Promise Utility which is optimized for M1-powered Macs and the ability to match the future ecosystem of chips. The utility uses less CPU and RAM space while
saving more energy, improves reliability and security, resulting in an enhanced user experience and smoother operations.

Furthering performance enhancements, updated features also include:

  • USB Filter driver support on M1 that will be managed by Promise Utility — a Pegasus management software — in USB mode on M1 chip Macs.

  • Enhanced Pegasus driver support for M1 chip Macs improving compatibility for Mac users while reducing panic and hang possibilities.

The Pegasus Series service release is applicable to the following Promise models: Pegasus R4i (for Mac Pro internal), Pegasus32 (R4, R6, R8), Pegasus3 (R4, R6, R8) and Pegasus2 (R4, R6, R8, M4).

Along with the Pegasus Series service release, the company will showcase the well-recognized PegasusPro, Pegasus R4i and J2i, and the recently launched Green JBOD VTrak J5960 for editing and archiving rich media storage solutions at the Virtual Pavilion.

The PegasusPro was recently upgraded with a service release that supports both APFS and NTFS file systems, empowering Mac users (APFS read) and Windows users (NTFS read and write) with extra flexibility.

Meanwhile, the enhanced Promise Utility Pro, used for monitoring and administration of PegasusPro, comes with online updates that notify users of new software versions, which can then be updated with a click. The proprietary FileBoost offers new functions to users including more options for synchronization policy, in-time folder status updates, folders auto-refreshing.

PegasusPro joins the suite of the company’s solutions that are optimized for rich media workflows, such as Pegasus32 Series, PegasusR4i and J2i internal storages, and the VTrak J5960, all of which was also be showcased at the Promise Virtual Pavilion at the NAB Show 2021.
